I am amazed at how sturdy and reliable this relatively inexpensive machine is. The belt system(rpm)is manual, but easy to change. Power enough to penetrate 4" oak, with so-so bits, and a sizable table for larger objects with room to clamp. The table lock is my least favorite aspect, small and awkward. I assembled this myself...don't! I was lucky, using..well, never mind. This sucker is heavy, and I'm only 150lbs. All in all, very happy, great shipping, arrived in under a week.

i bought this drill press about 3 months ago, and have used it often since then.
installation - piece of cake
the delivery guy brought it to my garage, and from there i unpacked and assembled it without issue. the motor assembly is pretty heavy, so i needed help to carry that out of the box and slide it on to the stand. although the box looked like it had gone through a lot, there was nothing wrong with any of the parts i got.
operations
the speeds are really easy to change, although i've only had to do it twice. you just release the tension, move the belts, and tension it back up. given how easy this was, it is hard for me to imagine justifying the money for a press with an automatic speed changer. it is really easy to secure bits into the chuck, and remove them afterwards, and it is straightforward to adjust the hole depth and table height. the spindles are a good size to facilitate drilling your hole. in general, no problem with most common...Read more

I bought this drill press from Amazon.com last summer, 2009. It had a warranty issue so I called Jet and they said that they would replace the whole unit. Good, I thought. They told me to return it to the dealer I bought it from, which is Amazon.com. I contacted Amazon.com and after numerous Emails and several days of multiple hour plus long phone calls, I still do not have a replacment unit. Amazon.com keeps telling me that they are out of stock and cannot replace it at this time and they have no idea when a replacement will be in stock. This is no fault of Jet's. The problem is with Amazon.com. DO NOT buy large equipment, like Jet, from Amazon.com. They won't follow thru on their end of the warranty process. I am very disappointed. It has been 4 months now with broken piece of equipment in my shop. The manufacturer said that I cannot bring it to another Jet dealer for replacement, it has to go back to the dealer I purcahsed it from, which is Amazon.com.
